V60 BREWING GUIDE

THIS RECIPE IS FOR 20g COFFEE AND 350ml WATER

Treat yourself to the best brew with the V60 dripper. Trust us, once you try it, you’ll wonder how you ever survived without it.

  • Requires 20g Coffee
  • Brew Time 3-4 Minutes
  • Serves 2 People

Ingredients

  • Hario V60
  • Filter Papers
  • Jug
  • Gooseneck Kettle
  • Digital Scales
  • Timer

Instructions

  1. Grind the coffee to a medium coarse grind.
  2. Place a filter paper in your V60 and rinse it with hot water thoroughly to avoid the papery flavour.
  3. Once you fully rinse the filter, discard the rinse water, and place the V60 vessel on your digital scale.
  4. Add the ground coffee to the V60 and tap it to level the coffee bed.
  5. Starting the timer, pour around 60g to 70g of hot water over the coffee bed, evenly wetting all the ground coffee. Wait 45 seconds after this pour, to allow the coffee to bloom.
  6. After 45 seconds, continue pouring hot water to a total of 350g. Try to finish this within 2 minutes.
  7. The brewing is finished when the water completely drains through the coffee bed into the vessel.
  8. Aim to finish this stage within 4 minutes . If your brew is taking too long, or too quick, adjust your grind setting for the beans.

Pro Tips

While the coffee is blooming, swirl the v60 or mix the coffee bed with a spoon, this saturates all the ground coffee with water to achieve an even brew. When pouring the water try to pour in controlled concentric circles. After the final pour, swirl the v60 again to level the coffee bed helping in an even extraction.
